Job Description

The KDP productivity team plays a pivotal role in driving efficiency, streamlining products and processes, enhancing overall performance, and improving the profitability of our products. As a Scientist within the Product Development team, you will lead productivity initiatives focused on enhancing product and process efficiency. Your responsibilities will include developing strategies to improve productivity, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and implementing innovative solutions. By doing so, you’ll contribute to KDP’s ability to create and commercialize new products that delight our consumers and customers.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment. Develop and implement holistic solutions that align with KDP’s overall Productivity and Innovation agenda. Collaborate extensively with R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Sales, and Ingredient Suppliers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads bench-top experiments, formula calculations, and develops prototypes for product tastings and sensory testing across a variety of KDP brands and products
  • Interprets test results, writes technical reports, and effectively communicates information within the organization
  • Verifies formula accuracy, completes formula documentation, and conducts pilot-plant trials
  • Fully understands R&D functions and project management process to lead the commercialization of ideas to launch
  • Partners with various functions of R&D (Sensory, Ingredients, Nutrition, Regulatory, Flavor Technology, Chemistry, Process Engineering, and Technical Services)
  • Influences and actively participates in Marketing and Consumer Research programs to gain consumer insights, and translate into key product concepts
  • Manages multiples projects and represents R&D in cross-functional teams consisting of members across various departments of KDP (R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, Sales and Procurement)
  • Delivers updates on projects within the business to key stakeholders and cross-functional peers
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement within function
  • Maintains accurate and detailed record of laboratory work
  • Work appropriately and safely in a laboratory environment
  • Demonstrate flexibility and resilience in adapting to changing business needs and priorities
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
  • Consumer-Centric Approach: Understand the business goals, brand marketing strategies, and manufacturing capabilities within the KDP network. Translate consumer needs into key product concepts.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate updates on strategic initiatives within the business to key stakeholders.
  • Use formulation software to document lab work and formulas.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Chemical Engineering
  • 4 years of experience in a related function within food/beverage (R&D, Quality), CPG, and/or commensurate advanced education
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • Works independent, excels in team-based culture and collaborates
  • Skilled in problem solving, with a growth mindset
  • Ability to travel is required
