The TCC anticipates payment for the capital costs of construction (excluding HST) for this project will be broken down as follows: Federal $14.3 M (40%), Provincial $11.9 M (33%) and the Owner $9.6 M (26.7%).

To demonstrate the TCC’s ability to finance 26.7% of the Owner’s cost as per the program guidelines, the TCC has organized a pledge campaign within the Tamil community. To date the TCC has received $11.2 M in pledges from community members, businesses and organizations. If made available and deemed required, the TCC would access the financing offered by the Ministry of Infrastructure for community organizations that are approved through the program’s guidelines. The TCC is in the process of acquiring charitable status designation and has had its Letters Patent approved as a Charity by the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee. The Committee thanks our community members for their pledges in support of our application, and will share updates as soon as funding decisions are announced.

I am writing today to pledge financial support for the Tamil Community Centre project.

Over the course of the year, the Steering Committee has been hard at work to gain support for the project from community members, community organizations, and elected officials. In addition, the Steering Committee has held in person consultations, online consultations, and have attended community events to make sure community members have an opportunity to provide input to the plans. This project will provide a much needed community service to the Tamil community for generations to come. 
 
Building a community centre is no small achievement. I am encouraged to see the Steering Committee apply to the Community, Culture and Recreation stream under the federal Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. To support the project and make up the rest of the cost, I will pledge the amount stated below.
